Valletta, Luxol overcome stiff challenges

Champions Valletta defeated University of Malta Students 8-3 while Luxol beat neighbours Swieqi United 3-1 in the two big matches from the Malta FA Futsal League on Friday.

At the National Sport School Pavillion, Luxol and Swieqi United showed a good level of futsal. Captain Mark Zammit, Celino Alves and George Frendo scored the goals for Luxol while Stefan Camilleri scored a consolation goal for Swieqi.

Meanwhile at the Corradino Sport Pavilion, UoM Students tried their best but ended up losing to champions Valletta who therefore remained unbeaten. The Citizens found the net through a Jovica Milijic hat-trick and goals by Daniel Saliba, Dylan Musu, Camilo Andres Vanegas Gomes, Denis Di Maio and Mohamed Lamari. Lee Grech scored twice for UoM with Daniele De Gennaro scoring the other.

In other match, Birkirkara move alone in fourth place thanks to a 17-1 over UM Futsal Academy. Tarxien Rainbows beat Swieqi United U21 10-1 while Pietà Hotspurs defeated Luxol U19 3-2.
