Qormi, St. Andrews file protests against results of Premier League matches

Qormi and St. Andrews have filed protests against the results of the BOV Premier League matches against Birkirkara and Floriana respectively.

Both Qormi and St. Andrews argued that their opponents had failed to respect clause 9 iii b of the Competition Rules of the Malta Football Association which states that there has to be at least eleven home-grown players in the squad.

In the match between Qormi and Birkirkara, the Stripes were forced to make a last-minute change where Carlos Chavarria replaced Michael Mifsud in the starting line-up.

On the other hand, in the game between St. Andrews and Floriana, the Greens had only seventeen players in the squad.

Birkirkara defeated Qormi 2-1 while Floriana and St. Andrews shared the spoils in a goalless draw.

The protests are expected to be heard later this week.
