Wanderers face tricky Pietà test

After losing 1-3 to Balzan last week, Sliema Wanderers will be hoping to return to winning ways as they take on Pietà Hotspurs in one of the two BOV Premier League matches in programme at the Centenary Stadiun on Saturday, kick-off at 16:15.

The Wanderers are currently fourth in the table, on level points with Balzan and Hamrun Spartans and considering Monday’s big matches between Hibernians and Balzan, Valletta and Hamrun Spartans, they hope to close in on the top teams. Sliema lost three out of the last five matches, defeating Qormi and Senglea in the other two games.

Pietà, on the other hand, are currently fourth from bottom on ten points. They lost 2-3 to Hamrun Spartans last week, winning just one from the last six games.

Meanwhile in the first match, kick-off at 14:00, Mosta and Qormi will be all out to claim the three points in a clash between the team lying third from bottom and the one sharing the bottom spot with Senglea Athletic.

The Blues earned a precious point in a 3-3 draw with Gzira United last week, which was their first positive result after six consecutive defeats. However they have now gone nine matches without a win.

Qormi, on the other hand, are coming from a most disappointing run on nine consecutive defeats, losing 1-2 to Birkirkara last week.

Dexter Xuereb and Akeem Roach of Mosta are both suspended.
