Stoppage-time goals hand Victoria Hotspurs dramatic win over Munxar

Leaders Victoria Hotspurs struggled much more than expected to beat Munxar Falcons 3-2 in a match from the BOV Gozo Football League First Division at the Gozo Stadium on Sunday.

Jonathan Bajada put the Hotspurs ahead on the 7th minute and Matthias Michael Uzor equalised on the 56th. Leiner Garcia Panesso gave the Falcons a shock lead on the 79th but deep into stoppage time, Christian Mercieca levelled matters and Elton da Silva notched the winner. 

In another match, Nadur Youngsters defeated Ghajnsielem 3-2. Yuri de Jesus Messias converted a penalty for Nadur on the 39th and Antoine Camilleri equalised on the 66th. A minute later, Messias restored the lead and nine minutes later, Marcelo Barbosa made it 3-1 although Luis Andre De Melo Lima converted a penalty six minutes from time to reduce the gap. 

In the BOV Gozo Football League First Division, Xaghra United and Oratory Youths shared the spoils in a 1-1 draw at the Kercem Ajax Stadium on Saturday. Johnny Camilleri put Xaghra ahead on the 31st but Daniele Degennaro equalised on the 67th. 

In another match, Qala Saints defeated Zebbug Rovers 3-1. Michael Mumford gave Qala the lead on the 16th but Marcos Peres Vega equalised five minutes later. Michael Mumford scored again on the 31st and Martin Buttigieg made it 3-1 seven minutes later.

Meanwhile in a match from the BOV GFA Cup quarter-finals, Nadur Youngsters beat Second Division side Sannat Lions 3-1 at the Kercem Ajax Stadium on Wednesday. 

Marcelo Junior Barbosa put Nadur ahead on the 20th, Ralph Ebube Okpokwu equalised on the half-hour but Nadur regained the lead thanks to a stoppage-time goal by Brandon Said before the end of the first half and Marcelo Junior Barbosa sealed the issue with another goal on the 69th.
