Jorginho joins Birkirkara

Birkirkara secured the services of Brazilian striker Jorge Pereira da Silva.

The thirty-three year old striker Jorginho joins Birkirkara from Gzira United, just seven months after joining the Maroons from Hibernians. In eight league matches with the Maroons, Jorginho scored one. He also scored another goal in the historic 0-2 away from home against Sant Julia of Andorra.

After playing in Brazil, Japan and Lebanon, Jorginho moved to Malta in summer 2011, joining Qormi FC and following a short spell with Kecskemeti in Hungary in the early part of season 2012/13, he returned with the club. In summer 2014, he moved to Hibernians where he spent four years, apart from a five-month spell on loan with Khaleej in Saudi Arabia in the early part of last season.

The Stripes have so far secured the services of Clayton Failla and Muamer Svraka, released Uchenna Calistus Umeh, transferred Paul Fenech to Balzan and loaned Llywelyn Cremona and Brandon Muscat to Gudja United and Zebbug Rangers respectively. The club is also on the verge of announcing the signing of Hibernians midfielder Johann Bezzina.
