Birkirkara keep marching on in BOV Women’s League

Leaders Birkirkara keep marching on in the BOV Women’s League with a ninth win in as many matches as they defeated Swieqi United 6-0 at the Mġarr Ground on Tuesday.

Kailey Willis put the Stripes ahead after just one minute and Tracy Teuma doubled the score on the 20th. Six minutes later, Rebecca Bajada made it 3-0. Stephania Farrugia scored twice on the 68th and 76th with Kelly Agius Pace adding another on the 79th.

Mġarr United kept the pace with the leaders thanks to a 3-0 win over Kirkop United at the Mġarr Ground on Wednesday. Haley Bugeja converted a penalty on the 27th and Maria Mizzi doubled the score ten minutes later. Amber Grech sealed the issue with a third goal on the hour.

Hibernians remain third thanks to a 2-1 win over Raiders (Luxol) at the Charles Abela Stadium on Tuesday.  Early goals by Jade Flask on the 12th minute and Emma Xuereb seven minutes later gave Hibs a comfortable lead with Rebecca Naudi reducing the gap one minute from time.

In another match on Tuesday, Fgura United and Mosta shared the spoils in a  1-1 draw at the Fgura Ground. Mosta therefore stay three points clear of bottom-placed Fgura. Martina Cortis put Mosta ahead on the 27th but Fgura captain Marie Claire Alamango equalised on the 45th.
