BOV Division 2: Fgura United move top

Fgura United are the new leaders of the BOV Second Division as a hat-trick by Giovanni Galea enabled them to come from behind to beat Melita 3-1 at the Centenary Stadium on Sunday.

Isaac Zammit put Melita ahead on the 2nd minute but Galea converted a penalty on the 29th to level matters, adding another two goals on the 66th and 78th.

A goal by Leeroy Bonnett on the 74th minute gave St. George’s a narrow win over Mgarr United in another match at the Centenary Stadium.

Birzebbuga St. Peter’s defeated Luqa St. Andrew’s 4-2 at the Victor Tedesco Stadium. Ryan Sell put Birzebbuga ahead on the 36th. Three minutes in the second half, Andrea Sant doubled the score and Ryan Sell added another a minute later. Jerry Ani reduced the gap on the 53rd and on the hour, Ani scored a second goal for Luqa. However Keith Muscat made it 4-2 for Birzebbuga on the 62nd.

In another match, Mellieha and Siggiewi shared the spoils in a goalless draw.

Fgura lead the way with 28 points, followed by Rabat, Birzebbuga and Marsaxlokk on 27, Mgarr 26, St. George’s 25, Melita 20, Sta. Venera 12, Zabbar 10, Mellieha 9, Siggiewi and Luqa 8 and Kalkara 7.
