BOV Division 1: Gudja move second as Santa Lucia suffer heavy defeat

Gudja United moved second in the BOV First Division as they defeated Vittoriosa Stars 5-2 at the Victor Tedesco Stadium on Monday.

Dhonatan Santos da Hora put Gudja ahead on the 13th and Leejoe Schembri doubled the score on the 35th. Joseph JoJo Ogunnupe converted a penalty just before half-time but Jonathan Bondin made it 3-1 on the 63rd. Two minutes later, Firas Aboulezz scored a fourth goal and Raphael Kooh Sohna added another on the 76th. One minute from time, Joseph JoJo Ogunnupe converted another penalty to reduce the gap for Vittoriosa.

Santa Lucia, on the other hand, suffered a third consecutive defeat, losing heavily to Zebbug Rangers.

Jose Lucas Caetano da Silva converted a penalty on the 38th and three minutes in the second half, Dion Fava doubled the score. Randall Vella increased the lead on the hour. Thiago Rodrigo dos Santos scored a fourth goal for Clive Mizzi’s side on the 71st minute.

Sirens lead the way with 39 points, followed by Gudja on 32, Santa Lucia 30, Naxxar 26, Lija 25, Zejtun and Swieqi 23, Pembroke 20, Vittoriosa 19, Zebbug 18, Qrendi 17, Mqabba 16, San Gwann 13 and Marsa 5.
