FA Trophy quarter-finals take centre-stage

The FA Trophy takes centre-stage this weekend with two quarter-finals scheduled at the Hibernians Stadium on Saturday and another two at the National Stadium on Sunday.

In the first quarter-final at the Hibernians Stadium, kick-off at 14:00, Pietà Hotspurs take on Gzira United.

Gzira are currently third on 35 points but won just one match out of the last seven. The Hotspurs, on the other hand, share the bottom spot with Qormi on ten points, losing their last eight matches. However in the clash with Gzira in the first round, Pietà earned a point in a 1-1 draw

The Hotspurs defeated Mdina Knights 4-1 and Zejtun Corinthians 2-0 in the previous rounds. The Maroons, on the other hand, beat Rabat Ajax 4-0 and Melita 4-2.

In the second match, kick-off at 16:00, Mosta face Birkirkara.

Seven positive results out of the last eight matches, including a draw with Balzan and a win over Hamrun in their last two outings, enabled Mosta to move eighth on 19 points. Birkirakra, on the other hand, are currently seventh on 30 points after winning just one match out of the last five. In November, Birkirkara had defeated Mosta 3-0 in the BOV Premier League first round.

Mosta eliminated Senglea Athletic in the third round, beating them 3-2 after extra-time and went on to defeat Sliema Wanderers 2-1 in the fourth round. Birkirkara, on the other hand, beat Nadur Youngsters 4-0 and Hamrun Spartans 2-1.
