Valletta take on Pietà as they target top spot

Following Hibernians’ 1-1 draw with Hamrun Spartans on Friday, Valletta will be all out to claim the three points on Saturday as they take on Pietà Hotspurs in one of the four BOV Premier League matches in programme on Saturday. A win which would enable the Citizens to join the Paolites on top.

In the first match at the Hibernians Stadium, kick-off at 14:00, St. Andrews face Qormi.

The Saints are currently eleventh on 18 points while Qormi share the bottom spot with Pietà on 10. However while Qormi won two out of their last four matches, St. Andrews failed to win any of their last seven matches, losing four out of the last five matches.

Qormi’s Davide Mansi and Kassiano Soares and St. Andrews defender Alex Satariano are ruled out through suspension.

In the first round, St. Andrews defeated Qormi 2-0.

In the second match at the Hibernians Stadium, kick-off at 16:00, Gzira United take on Senglea Athletic.

The Maroons cannot afford anything other than a win as they aim to hold on to third place. In their last outing, they registered their first league win in 2019 as they beat Qormi 4-1. Senglea, on the other hand, suffered a narrow defeat to Floriana, to stay third from bottom on 17 points.

For Gzira, Sacha Borg is suspended after collecting four yellow cards.

In the first round, Gzira defeated Senglea 1-0.

Meanwhile in the first match at the National Stadium, kick-off at 14:00, Valletta face Pietà Hotspurs.

The Citizens won five out of the last six matches, defeating Balzan 2-1 in their last outing. The Hotspurs, on the other hand, lost the last nine matches and seemed resigned to playing in Division 1 next season.

Pietà could not count on the suspended Christian Grech and Antonio Macedo Neto.

In the first round, Valletta registered a 4-0 win.

In the second match at the National Stadium, kick-off at 16:00, Floriana meet Balzan in a clash between two teams desperate for points.

Balzan are currently seventh on 31 points and only a good winning streak would put them back on track in the battle for third or fourth place. They won just two out of their last seven matches. Floriana, on the other hand, are currently ninth on 21 points. The Greens won just two out of the last nine matches.

Emerson Marcelina is ruled out through suspension for Qormi.

In the first round, Balzan defeated Floriana 2-0.
