First half goals enough for Valletta

Valletta scored three in the first half as they defeated Pietà Hotspurs 3-0 at the National Stadium on Saturday to move back on top the BOV Premier League table together with Hibernians.

Pietà Hotspurs, on the other hand, suffered a tenth consecutive defeat. They remain anchored at the bottom of the table with 10 points, three behind Qormi.

Valletta took the lead on 28 minutes when off a cross by Kaljevic from the right, Mario Fontanella headed home past Vella.

Eight minutes later, the Citizens doubled the score when off a Bogdan Gavrila free kick from the right, Santiago Malano rose high to head home.

On the 42nd minute, Valletta made it 3-0 when Bogdan Gavrila finished off in style following a long-distance through pass by Alba.
