Precious points at stake in bottom clashes

Precious points will be at stake as two matches from the lower part of the table are in programme at the Centenary Stadium on Thursday.

In the first match, kick-off at 18:00, Senglea Athletic take on St. Andrews.

The Saints failed to win any out of the last eight matches, earning just two points in draws. On the other hand, back-to-back defeats to Floriana and Gzira brought to an end a positive run for Senglea who had won four out of the previous five matches. One point separates the two teams as St. Andrews are currently eleventh on 18 points and Senglea twelfth on 17.

The Saints could not count on the suspended Ricardo Martin.

In the first round, Senglea defeated St. Andrews 2-1.

Meanwhile in the second match, kick-off at 20:15, Qormi face Tarxien Rainbows.

Three wins from the last five matches revived Qormi’s hopes of avoiding relegation. They are now second from bottom on 13 points. Tarxien, on the other hand, lost their last five matches and are fifth from bottom on 19 points.

Jacson de Paixao is ruled out for Tarxien as he serves a one-match ban.

In the first round, Tarxien defeated Qormi 1-0.
