Senglea hit five past St. Andrews

Senglea Athletic collected three precious points in the battle against relegation as they defeated St. Andrews 5-0 at the Centenary Stadium on Thursday. A win enables Vincenzo Potenza’s side to leapfrog the Saints.

In fact, Senglea now lie on the 20-point mark, leaving the Saints third from bottom on 18 points. This was the fourth consecutive defeat for St. Andrews.

Diego Venancio da Silva put Senglea ahead on the 9th minute thanks to a direct freekick which gave Calleja Cremona no chance.

Senglea doubled the score on the 35th minute when they were awarded a penalty after Augusto Rene Caseres was brought down inside the area and Diego Venancio converted from the penalty spot.

Diego Venancio completed a hat-trick seven minutes in the second half with a powerful drive from outside the area when served by Nikola Mitic.

Leighton Grech made it 4-0 on 62 minutes when he slotted the ball past the St. Andrews custodian following athrough pass by Matias Garcia.

Augusto Rene Caseres added another thirteen minutes from time, hitting home from close range after a good move between Matic and Maurkawa and a short clearance by a defender.
