BOV Division 2: St. George’s, Fgura move top

St. George’s and Fgura United share the top spot in the BOV Second Division after both registered wins on Sunday.

At the Luxol Stadium, the Saints came from behind to beat Zabbar St. Patrick 2-1 with two goals in added time.

Andre Joe Cutajar put Zabbar ahead six minutes in the second half but Leeroy Bonett equalised on the 91st minute and Mattia Mentosa notched the winner on the 94th.

Fgura United beat Luqa St. Andrew’s with an identical 2-1 score. Joey Reno Vella put Fgura ahead on the 20th and although Trevor Cilia equalised on the 26th, Joey Reno Vella restored the lead two minutes later.

At the Sirens Stadium, an Isaac Abela hat-trick on the 12th, 45th and 69th handed Rabat Ajax a 3-0 win over relegated side Siggiewi.

In another match at the Sirens Stadium, Marsaxlokk beat Sta. Venera Lightnings 3-2. Shamison Farrugia put Sta. Venera ahead on the 20th and Eddie Wileman doubled the score on the 45th. However Timmy Thomas reduced the gap on the 53rd, Ryan Cauchi equalised three minutes later and Timmy Thomas notched the winner on the 78th.

Fgura and St. George’s lead the way with 50 points, followed by Mgarr on 48, Marsaxlokk 44, Birzebbuga 40, Melita 36, Rabat 34, Kalkara 23, Mellieha 22, Luqa 20, Zabbar 19, Sta. Venera 16 and Siggiewi 13.
