Birkirkara FC part ways with Mark Buttigieg

Birkirkara FC announced that the club have reached a mutual agreement with senior team coach Mark Buttigieg to part ways. The club added that Buttigieg gave his resignation following a meeting with the club’s committee.

Buttigieg has been appointed as senior team coach late in March following the departure of Sporting Director John Arne Riise. He had served as assistant to both Paul Zammit and Riise during his time at the club.

Birkirkara defeated Sliema 1-0 thanks to a stoppage-time goal in his first outing as Birkirkara coach but the Stripes then lost 2-3 to Hibernians and 1-2 to Mosta.

In a statement, the club thanked Buttigieg for the work carried out in the last two years, making it clear that the agreement was taken in the best interest of both parties.
