Pietà Hotspurs, Qormi reach Youth Knock-Out final

Pietà Hotspurs and Qormi reached the Youth Knock-Out Competition final after defeating St. Andrews and Valletta respectively in the two semi-finals.

In the first semi-final on Thursday, Qormi defeated Valletta 2-0 thanks to goals by Luke Farrugia on the 23rd minute and a Lucas Santana penalty four minutes from time.

On their way to the final, Qormi, who finished fourth in Section B, had defeated Kirkop United 2-0, Marsaxlokk 4-0 and Hibernians 3-2 before beating Valletta.

On the other hand, Pietà Hotspurs reached this stage after defeating Msida St. Joseph 6-0, Floriana 3-0 and Swieqi United 1-0 before beating St. Andrews in the second semi-final on Friday.

The Saints took the lead on the 65th minute but one minute from time, Sheldon Mizzi equalised to force extra-time. No goals were scored in extra-time and in the penalty shoot-out, Kurt Briffa, Sheldon Mizzi, Liam Mckay, Kurt Darmanin and Jake Ghio scored the Hotspurs’ penalties after Jan Busuttil missed the first penalty. On the other hand, Dejan Debono, Jamie Sixsmith, Miguel D’Alessandro and Thomas Vella scored for St. Andrews with Samuel Barthet missing the first penalty and Alistair Gollcher failing to score the last.

The final will be played on Wednesday at the Victor Tedesco Stadium, kick-off at 20:00.
