Birkirkara girls claim double

Birkirkara won their fifteenth Women’s Knock-Out Competition after defeating Mgarr United 2-0 at the Charles Abela Stadium on Tuesday. The Stripes therefore secured a third consecutive double.

The Stripes took the lead on the 18th minute thanks to a header by Stephania Farrugia following a corner from the left.

Ten minutes from the end of the first half, Ann Marie Said doubled the score with another header which beat the Mgarr goalkeeper.

After the final, captain Stephania Farrugia was presented with the trophy by MFA Senior Vice-President Ludovico Micallef.

Mgarr United, who also finished as runners-up in the BOV Women’s League, will therefore be contesting the Women’s Super Cup final which kicks-off season 2019/20.
