Michael Mifsud rejoins Malta squad

Michael Mifsud has rejoined the Malta squad ahead of the Euro 2020 Group F qualifier against Romania at the National Stadium on Monday (kick-off 20.45).

Mifsud missed the 3-0 defeat to Sweden at the Friends Arena on Friday as he continued his recovery from a minor injury but the Malta captain has now been certified fit to return to the squad.

On the other hand, defender Jonathan Caruana will not be available for the Romania game because of injury.

The Malta contingent returned from Sweden on a chartered Air Malta flight on Saturday morning.

The players who started the match in Stockholm had a recovery session at the team hotel while the remaining members of the squad had a light training session at the MFA Training Grounds.

Romania also arrived in Malta on Saturday following their 2-2 draw against Norway.

Led by coach Cosmin Contra, Romania have four points from their opening three Group F qualifiers, one more than Malta.
