Six Premier League players to miss last league match

20110417-114224.jpgSix Premier League players are ruled out of the last league match after being suspended by the MFA Disciplinary Commissioner.

Jonas Ekani Rodriguez (Mosta) was banned for three matches, Obinna Obiefule (Hibs) for two matches while Pedro dos Santos Calcado (Balzan), Igor Radusinovic and Edison Luis dos Santos (Hibs) and Matias Muchari (Sliema) were all handed a one-match ban.

Obiefule, Radusinovic, Tarabai and Muchardi are ruled out of the Sliema vs Hibernians clash while Ekani and Pedrinho are ruled out of Mosta vs Balzan.

Ticket sales for Birkirkara vs Valletta

valletta-bkara140202pzcThe Malta Football Association announced that tickets for the BOV Premier League clash between Birkirkara FC and Valletta FC which will determine the champions for season 2013/14 are now on sale and will be sold until Friday from the respective clubs until Friday at 19:00.

The West A and the North Stand will be reserved for Birkirkara supporters while the West C and the South Stand will be reserved for Valletta supporters. On match-day, tickets for the Millennium D and the Millennium F will be available from the respective ticket booths for €6 adults, €4 holders of Karta-Anzjan and €1 for children under the age of 12.

The electronic Orange Cards and White Cards issued by MFA, only marked as Birkirkara FC or Valletta FC may be used on the day to access West Stand A or West Stand C. However holders of the other Orange Cards may only access te other sides.

Changes in BOV Premier League fixtures due to decisive matches

bov-premier-league-2013-2014The Malta Football Association announced changes in fixtures in the BOV Premier League matches in programme this weekend since Mosta and Sliema Wanderers are still fighting for the fourth place.

Hibernians vs Sliema, scheduled for Thursday at the National Stadium, has been anticipated by half an hour and will kick-off at 19:00. Mosta vs Balzan, which was due to be played on Friday, will now be played on Thursday at the Hibernians Stadium, kick-off at 19:00.

Floriana vs Rabat and Qormi vs Tarxien will be played on Thursday at the Centenary Stadium, kick-off at 18:00 and 20:15 respectively. The decisive match against relegation between Vittoriosa Stars and Naxxar Lions will be played on Friday at the Victor Tedesco Stadium, kick-off at 19:00.

New Premier League format approved

MFAThe Council of the Malta Football Association voted in favour of a new format for the BOV Premier League which involves scrapping the Championship Pool and Relegation Pool but retains the halving of points at the end of the first phase. This was one of two amendments which were approved on Tuesday – the Rules Governing Competitions (Section VII of the MFA Handbook) and the Competition Rules (Section V of the MFA Handbook).

According to the new format, the first phase will be played by all clubs on a two-round basis. At the end of the first phase, points will be halved and then all clubs will play once another on a one-round basis.

The bottom two clubs will be relegated to Division 1 while the team finishing tenth in the Premier League will participate in a Premier Division Play-Out with the team placing third in the First Division.

U*BET FA Trophy final to be held on May 1st

FA TrophyThe Malta Football Association announced that the U*BET FA Trophy final between Valletta and Sliema Wanderers will be played on Thursday May 1st at the National Stadium, kick-off at 17:00.

The game was originally scheduled for May 4 but was then re-scheduled to April 30 following a request by the Police Commissioner.

BOV Women’s Division 2: Tarxien Rainbows promoted — Championship decider necessary

bov-women-second-division-2013-2014Tarxien Rainbows earned a point in a goalless draw with Hamrun Spartans in a match from the BOV Women’s Second Division on Tuesday to end their commitments on level points with Fgura United. A result which means that Tarxien will be joining Fgura in the BOV Women’s First Division next season.

However a decider is necessary to determine which team will be declared champion. This will be played on Wednesday 30th April at the Centenary Stadium, kick-off at 19:00.

Narrow win for Valletta

valletta-balzan140421pzcValletta claimed the three points they needed in a narrow win over Balzan to move back two points behind leaders Birkirkara ahead of next Saturday’s decisive clash for the BOV Premier League title.

On Saturday, Valletta have to beat Birkirkara in order to claim the title. On the other hand, a draw is enough for the Stripes to retain the title.

BOV Women’s Division 1: Decider necessary as B’Kara, Hibs register wins

bov-women-first-division-2013-2014A decider to determine the champion is necessary in the BOV Women’s First Division after both Birkirkara and Hibernians registered wins on Monday to end their commitments on level points.

Birkirkara defeated Mgarr United 2-1 while Hibernians beat Pembroke Athleta 7-0.

The championship decider will be played on Friday 25th April at the Centenary Stadium, kick-off at 19:00.
