Naxxar condemn Sliema to fifth consecutive defeat

BOV-Premier-LeagueSliema Wanderers suffered a fifth consecutive defeat as Naxxar Lions scored twice early in the second half to register a 2-1 win at the Victor Tedesco Stadium.

The Wanderers fall into the ninth place and will start the second phase on 12 points, one behind Pembroke. Naxxar, on the other hand, start on the 7-point mark, two ahead of Qormi.

Meanwhile at the Hibernians Stadium, Valletta scored twice in the second half to beat Qormi 2-0 and make sure of starting the third round at least two points ahead of the team in second place, on 27 points.

BOV Division 1: Senglea return to winning ways

BOV-First-DivisionSenglea Atheltic returned to winning ways in the BOV First Division as they defeated Zebbug Rangers 2-1 in one of two matches at the Centenary Stadium on Saturday.

Ryan Dalli put Senglea ahead on the 16th minute and although Aaron Agius levelled matters for Zebbug on the 39th, six minutes from time, Ryan Dalli scored again for Senglea to hand them the three points.

In another match, Fgura United and Lija Athletic shared the spoils in a goalless draw.

BOV Division 3: Santa Lucia extend unbeaten run

BOV-Third-DivisionSanta Lucia extended their unbeaten run in the BOV Third Division to fifteen matches as they defeated Attard 2-0 in a direct clash between two teams fighting for promotion at the Charles Abela Stadium.

Yenez Emre put Santa Lucia ahead on the 50th and Gilbert Camilleri doubled the score on the 67th.

Leaders Marsaxlokk bounced back from last week’s defeat to Ghaxaq as they defeated Kalkara 2-0 at the Sirens Stadium. Sergio Hili gave Marsaxlokk the lead on the half-hour and Manuel Caruana doubled the score fifteen minutes from time.

Mosta, Pembroke share spoils in entertaining draw

BOV-Premier-LeagueMosta and Pembroke Athleta shared the spoils in an entertaining 3-3 draw at the Victor Tedesco Stadium which saw the Blues take the lead, Pembroke turning the score in their favour and Mosta scoring twice late in the game to restore equilibrium.

With this draw, Pembroke will be starting the third round on thirteen points, two behind Mosta.

Meanwhile St. Andrews registered a third consecutive positive result as they held Tarxien Rainbows in a 1-1 draw at the Hibernians Stadium.

BOV Premier League second round comes to an end this weekend

BOV-Premier-League-Nike-OrdemThe second round of the BOV Premier League comes to an end this weekend with four matches on Saturday and another two on Sunday.

On Saturday, Valletta start as favourites to extend their positive run with a win over Qormi. Sliema hope to return to winning ways against Naxxar, Tarxien take on St. Andrews while Mosta cross swords with Pembroke.
