Two first-half goals by the striker from Ivory Coast Amed Davy Sylla and a stoppage-time goal almost ruled out any chances of Birkirkara reaching the next round of the UEFA Champions League as B36 registered a most comfortable 3-0 win.

The Stripes were unable to field their best formation due to the absence of a number of players. In fact, Mark Anthony Bonnici, Roderick Briffa, Jonathan Holland, Michael Galea, Etienne Barbara, Adrian Ciantar and Antoine Zahra were in fact all ruled out. However Matthew Calascione and Lino Galea returned after missing the Euro Challenge Cup matches.

Still, much more was expected from Birkirkara. With the exception of William Camenzuli, the rest of the Birkirkara players failed to impress. The lack of match fitness of some of the players was quite evident.

B36 Tornshavn were clearly much better prepared physically also thanks to the fact that they are half-way through their league campaign.

What characterised the game was the lack of goal-mouth action. In fact, even B36 only had a handful of shots at goal.

The visitors managed to take the lead on 14 minutes when Bergur Midjord served Amed Davy Sylla inside the area and the latter managed to beat Bledzewski with a low shot.

On 32 minutes, B36 doubled the score. Off a cross by Alex Jose Dos Santos from the left, Amed Davy Sylla headed home from close range.

Thirteen minutes in the second half, the visitors could have increased the lead when following a good run on the right, Elingsgaard crossed for Mikkjal Thomasen whose fine shot was neutralised by Bledzewksi.

There was still no reaction by Birkirkara and one minute in stoppage time, Hanus Thorleifsson scored the third goal when he received a through pass and beat the Birkirkara goalkeeper with a low shot from just inside the area.
