| Three goals in the final five minutes gave Dinamo Bucharest a most comfortable 5-1 win over Hibernians in order to reach the second qualifying round of the UEFA Cup.
In the first leg at Ta' Qali, Dinamo had won 4-0. Hibs coach Robert Gatt was unable to field his best formation with Andrew Cohen and Adrian Pulis being unable to travel to Bucharest besides the injured Peter Pullicino, Kenneth Spiteri, Jonathan Pearson and Jonathan Caruana who had all missed the first leg. Following a goalless first half, Dinamo managed to break the deadlock ten minutes in the second half thanks to Adrian Cristea. Six minutes later, Ionel Daniel Danciulescu doubled the score. With six minutes to go, Danciulescu made it 3-0. Hibs pulled one back thanks to a goal by Croatian defender Danjiel Buzurovic on 86 minutes. However two minutes in stoppage time, Catalin Munteanu put Dinamo 4-1 ahead, increasing the lead further thanks to an own goal by Buzurovic.

| Dinamo Bucharest secured their place in the second qualifying round of the UEFA Cup after beating Hibernians 4-0 in the first leg at Ta' Qali.
After suffering an early goal, the Paolites managed to control their opponents well but two goals in a minute, midway through the second half, complicated matters for Hibernians. The visitors took the lead after just four minutes. A freekick by Catalin Munteanu was partially saved by Muscat and off the rebound, Ionel Daniel Danciulescu tapped the ball home from close range. Hibs replied with a Matthew Bartolo powerful shot two minutes later and off a cross by Chukunyere on 18 minutes, Terence Scerri hit just wide from close range. Dinamo went close once again on 19 minutes with a Niculescu effort which missed the target by a whisker. Four minutes in the second half, Andrew Cohen was unlucky to have a fine freekick blocked by Chukunyere. On the other side of the pitch, a low shot by Razvan Paduret was neutralised by Muscat. The visitors doubled the score on 57 minutes. George Blay released Ganea inside the area and the latter served Claudiu Niculescu who tapped the ball home from close range. A minute later, Dinamo scored the third goal. A carbon-copy of the second goal with Ganea serving Claudiu Niculescu with a perfect pass and the latter beating Muscat. The Hibs goalkeeper performed a good save on a shot from outside the area by Niculescu. A minute later, a long-distance shot by Ganea ended just wide. Stefan Daniel Radu scored the fourth goal six minutes from time beating Muscat from close range after the Hibs goalkeeper had partially saved his first attempt. On the 90th, Cormin Josif Noti was unlucky not to score the fifth goal as he hit the crossbar but a minute later, he was sent off after receiving a second yellow card.
