The IV Westin Malta Football Awards 2004/05
Hibernians duo Andrew Cohen and Essien Mbong won two awards each in the 4th edition of the Westin Malta Football Awards which was held on Saturday at the Westin Dragonara Resort, St. Julian's.
Andrew Cohen was voted Best Forward and Best Local Player while Essien Mbong was voted Best Midfielder and Best Foreign Player.
Another Hibernians player, Mario Muscat claimed the award for the Best Goalkeeper.
Champions Sliema Wanderers came next with Brian Said being voted Best Defender, Alex Muscat winning the award for the Most Promising Youngster and coach Edward Aquilina claiming the award for the Best Coach.
Pietà Hotspurs midfielder Silvan Ciscaldi won the award for the Best Goal of the Season, a goal he had scored in the Premier League match between Pietà Hotspurs and Sliema Wanderers on February 4 which had ended in a 3-2 win for Sliema.
Rebecca D'Agostino (Birkirkara) and Dorianne Theuma (Hibernians) shared the award for the Best Female Player.
For this edition of the Westin Malta Football Awards, two new awards were introduced - one for the best futsal player and another for the best player in Gozo.
Nebjosa Mijalovic of Hibernians won the award for the Best Futsal Player while Brian Meilak won the award for the Best Gozitan Player.
Ivan Woods of Sliema and Gilbert Agius of Valletta were in a race neck-to-neck in the Powerade Public Best Player Award with the Valletta striker emerging as winner.
Former Hamrun Spartans president Victor Tedesco was presented with a special award.
