The Melita Digital Malta Football Awards 2005/06
Champions Birkirkara claimed six of the awards at stake in the fifth edition of the Melita Digital Malta Football Awards which was held at the Corinthia Palace Hotel, Attard on Wednesday.
Two of these were won by Nigerian defender Precious Monye, who claimed the award for the Best Defender and the award for the Best Foreigner.
George Mallia and Micheal Galea won the awards for the Best Midfielder and the Best Forward respectively while Etienne Barbara was voted Best Maltese Player. Birkirkara coach Stephen Azzopardi was voted Best Coach after placing second in the previous three editions.
Sliema Wanderers goalkeeper Murphy Akanji was voted Best Goalkeeper while Udo Nwoko won the award for the Best Goal of the Season.
Dyson Falzon of Mosta won the award for the Most Promising Player while Stefan Sultana claimed the award for the Best Veteran Player.
Sliema Wanderers midfielder Roderick Bajada won the award for the Best Player according to the general public.
Marsa striker Gilbert Martin won the award for the Best First Division Player while Malta national team captain Rebecca D' Agostino, who plays for Melita, claimed the award for the Best Female Player.
Elton Vella of Kercem Ajax was voted Best Player in the Onvol GFA First Division while John Campbell of Hibernians won the award for the Best Player in the Futsal First Division.
