The Melita Digital Malta Football Awards 2006/07

Champions Marsaxlokk claimed five awards in the sixth edition of the Melita Digital Malta Football Awards which was held at the Corinthia Palace Hotel - Attard on Saturday.

Daniel Bogdanovic was voted Best Forward and Best Local Player. Luke Dimech and Kevin Sammut were voted Best Defender and Best Midfielder respectively while Brian Talbot was voted Best Coach.

Sliema Wanderers goalkeeper Murphy Akanji was voted Best Goalkeeper while another two Sliema players - Joe Brincat and David Carabott shared the award for the Best Veteran Player.

Valletta's Ian Zammit was voted Most Promising Youngster while goalkeeper Saviour Darmanin was voted Powerade Outstanding Player. The latter won this award after polling the highest number of sms votes during the programme MFA Magazine on Smash Television.

Valletta captain Gilbert Agius won the award for the Best Goal. A goal he scored for the national team in the friendly match against Austria.

Msida St. Joseph's Ibrahim Babatunde was voted Best Foreign Player.

Stephen Meilak of Hamrun Spartans was voted Best First Division Player while Noel Bray (Southenders) claimed the award for the Best Futsal Player.

Maria Azzopardi (Hibernians) won the award for the Best Female Player while Xaghra United's Chris Camilleri was voted the Best Onvol First Division Player.

Hibernians won the Awards for the Best Support. Other special awards which were presented during the gala night were special awards for the Malta Football Association, Youth Football Association and the Gozo Football Association and for Malta international striker Michael Mifsud.
