Rabat Ajax moved closer to promotion as they defeated Zejtun Corinthians 1-0 thanks to a goal by captain Adam Smeir.

The Magpies move three points ahead of Melita, ten ahead of Pietà. Melita and Pietà, however have a game in hand.

A goal by Dylan Zarb gave St. George’s a narrow win over St. Andrews to maintain hopes of avoiding relegation.

Vittoriosa Stars defeated St. Patrick 4-1 to extend their unbeaten run in the BOV First Division. Thanks to this win, Oliver Spiteri’s side made sure of securing their First Division status.

Marcelo Pereira scored two of the goals with Leighton Grech and Josef Dalli adding the other two goals. Jurgen Farrugia scored the Saints’ only goal.

In the second match, Naxxar Lions defeated Birzebbuga St. Peter’s 3-1.

Captain Adam Smeir scored two minutes in added time to give Rabat Ajax a narrow win over Lija Athletic to stay on top the BOV First Division table.

Rabat disappointed throughout the ninety minutes and Lija should consider themselves unlucky to leave the Victor Tedesco Stadium empty-handed.

In the second match, Melita defeated neighbours St. Andrews 4-2 in the derby to keep the pace with Rabat.

Melita joined Rabat Ajax on top the BOV First Division as they beat St. Patrick while Rabat were held in a draw by Vittoriosa.

Melita turned defeat into victory, defeating St. Patrick 2-1 at the Victor Tedesco Stadium. Blendi Gockaj put the Saints ahead but goals by George Gribbon and Julian Galea gave the Amateurs the three points.

At the Centenary Stadium, Rabat Ajax were held in a 1-1 draw by Vittoriosa Stars.

Dingli Swallows collected three precious points in the battle against relegation when they defeated St. George’s 2-0 in one of the two BOV First Division matches at the Victor Tedesco Stadium.

Chris Azzopardi notched a brace for the Swallows.

In another match, Naxxar Lions defeated Zejtun Corinthians 2-1. This was the second successive defeat for the Corinthians.
