BOV Division 1: Hotspurs continue to disappoint

Pietà Hotspurs continued to disappoint in the BOV First Division as they suffered the fifth defeat in six matches, losing 0-2 to Vittoriosa Stars.

Marcelo Pereira scored the two goals for Oliver Spiteri’s side who are now seventh on 21 points.

In the second match, Birzebbuga St. Peter’s defeated St. Patrick 3-1.

BOV Division 1: St. Patrick beat Pietà — Vittoriosa win derby

St. Patrick registered an important win in the battle against relegation to Division 2 as they defeated Pietà Hotspurs 1-0 in a match from the BOV First Division at the Victor Tedesco Stadium on Sunday.

Joe Reno Vella scored the all-important goal for the Saints who now join Dingli Swallows on the 15-point mark, two ahead of St. George’s.

In the second game, Vittoriosa Stars won the Cottonera derby as they beat St. George’s 4-2.

BOV Division 1: Rabat Ajax take sole leadership

Rabat Ajax took sole leadership in the BOV First Division as they defeated St. Andrews 1-0 at the Victor Tedesco Stadium.

Adam Smeir scored the all-important goal for the Magpies late in the game. This win puts Rabat on 35 points, two ahead of Melita, three ahead of Pietà and five ahead of Zejtun.

Zejtun Corinthians suffered a setback in the challenge for promotion as they lost 1-3 to Birzebbuga St. Peter’s.

BOV Division 1: Melita take top spot

Melita took sole leadership in the BOV First Division as they defeated Dingli Swallows 3-0 in one of the two matches at the Centenary Stadium on Friday.

Kane Micallef, Manuel Ramon Sierra Camacho and Matthew Borg scored the Amateurs’ goals.

Meanwhile a goal by Brazilian midfielder Andre Rocha da Silva enabled Naxxar Lions to return to winning ways as they registered a narrow win over Lija Athletic.

BOV Division 1: St. George’s awarded points after winning protest against Pietà

St. George’s were awarded a 2-0 win over Pietà Hotspurs after the MFA Protests Board upheld a protest filed by the Saints over the ineligibility of Kelvin Onosuighe. The BOV First Division League match which was played on March 4th had ended in a goalless draw.

St. George’s argued that Onosuighe’s registration was invalid as it breached Article 39 Section 4 of the Statute which states that a player is only eligible to play in competitive matches for a maximum of two clubs during one season.
