BOV Division 1: Lija Athletic return to winning ways

bov-first-division-2013-2014After suffering two consecutive defeats, Lija Athletic returned to winning ways as they beat Gudja United 2-0 in one of the two matches from the BOV First Division at the Victor Tedesco Stadium on Friday.

Beppe Antignolo put Lija ahead on 31 minutes and Andre Grabowski doubled the score on the 81st.

In another match, St. George’s registered their second win, defeating Birzebbuga St. Peter’s 2-0.

BOV Division 1: St. Andrews take sole leadership

bov-first-division-2013-2014St. Andrews moved on top the BOV First Division thanks to a dramtic 3-2 win over Lija Athletic in one of the four matches in programme on Sunday. A win which puts the Saints one point ahead of rivals Melita.

Andre Grabowski put Lija ahead on 23 minutes but Michael Grima levelled matters before half-time. Ige Abdullahi Adeshina made it 2-1 for Lija on 53 minutes. Joseph Farrugia restored equilibrium on 61 minutes and five minutes from time, Trayo Grozev notched the winner.

Zebbug Rangers claimed another three points thanks to a 3-1 win over Gudja United.

BOV Division 1: Zejtun Corinthians shock Melita

bov-first-division-2013-2014Melita suffered their first defeat in the BOV First Division as a penalty on the 90th minute by Ryan Previ gave Zejtun Corinthians a dramatic 2-1 win.

Julian Galea put the Amateurs ahead on 66 minutes and Elton Vella levelled matters before Previ notched the winner for Zejtun.

In the first match, Pietà Hotspurs defeated neighbours Hamrun Spartans 3-1.

BOV Division 1: Sole leadership for Melita — Zebbug beat Lija to register first win

bov-first-division-2013-2014Zebbug Rangers registered their first win in the BOV First Division as they beat Lija Athletic 3-2 in one of the four matches in programme on Sunday.

Predrag Babic put Lija ahead on 30 minutes but five minutes in the second half, Lee Galea levelled matters. John Nwoba made it 2-1 for Zebbug on the 67th but Ige Abdullahi Adeshina restored equilibrium. However Mauricio Britto notched the winner for the Rangers nine minutes from time.

Melita registered their third win as they beat Hamrun Spartans 2-0 thanks to goals by Kurt Coleiro on 33 minutes and Julian Galea on 58 minutes.
