BOV-First-DivisionVittoriosa Stars registered a fourth successive win in the BOV First Division as they came from behind to beat Lija Athletic 4-1. A win which puts the Stars on level points with Melita, one point behind third-placed Gzira and Fgura.

Abdullahi Ige Adeshina put Lija ahead on 23 minutes but Vittoriosa equalised on the 65th through a penalty by Eder Henrique Guedes. Five minues later, substitute Felipe Canavan made it 2-1 and after Lija had a player sent off, Felipe Canavan scored a third goal on the 79th. Liam Gauci converted a penalty on the 90th to seal the issue.

Zurrieq earned a precious point in the battle against relegation as they held St. George’s in a 1-1 draw. Larson Mallia put the Cospicua side ahead on 45 minutes but Joseph Jojo Ogunuppe, rescued a point for Zurrieq five minutes from time.

BOV-First-DivisionMsida St. Joseph suffered a seventh consecutive defeat as Birzebbuga St. Peter’s scored three late goals to beat them 3-1. Birzebbuga return to winning ways after suffering five defeats in their precious five outings.

Uchenna Anyanwu put Msida ahead on 32 minutes but Anthony Ewurum levelled matters on 76 minutes. Substitute Luca Santoiemme made it 2-1 on the 89th and three minutes in added time, Edson Luiz Bonati sealed the issue with a third goal.

BOV-First-DivisionPembroke Athleta joined St Andrews on top the BOV First Division table as they came back from one goal down to beat bottom-placed Birzebbuga St. Peter’s 4-1.

Edson Luiz Bonati put the Saints ahead on the 20th but Ayrton Azzopardi equalised on the 32nd. Pembroke forged ahead on the 71st through Abubakar Bello-Osagie who also scored the third goal three minutes later. An own goal sealed the issue for Pembroke four minutes from time.

The direct clash between the two teams lying in joint-third place, Gzira United and Fgura United ended in a 1-1 draw. Mendy Abdul Razak put Fgura ahead on the 9th minute but Jamie Pace restored equilibrium eleven minutes from time.

BOV-First-DivisionLeaders St. Andrews dropped three important points as they suffered a shock 1-3 defeat to Mqabba in one of the two BOV First Division matches in programme at the Centenary Stadium.

Emiliano Lattes put the Saints ahead on the 8th minute but Ryan Schembri equalised on the 36th and thirteen minutes in the second half, Karl Cutajar made it 2-1 for Mqabba. Stephane Guy Tape sealed the issue with a third goal two minutes in added time.

In another match, Gudja United and St. Georges’ shared the spoils in a 2-2 draw.

BOV-First-DivisionMelita moved back on track in the BOV First Division as they defeated ten-man Rabat Ajax 2-0 on Friday. They join Gzira and Fgura in third place, four points behind St. Andrews and one behind Pembroke.

The Amateurs took the lead thanks to a Michael Valenzia penalty one minute from the end of the first half and Julian Galea doubled the score on the 81st.
