BOV-First-DivisionLeaders St. Andrews keep marching on in the BOV First Division following a 4-0 win over bottom-placed Birzebbuga St. Peter’s.

Matteo Desira Buttigieg put them ahead on 31 minutes and the same player doubled the score six minutes later. Player-coach Brian Said made it 3-0 on the 84th minute and two minutes from time, Kyrian Nwoko sealed the issue with a fourth goal.

A goal by Ayrton Azzopardi on the 27th minute gave Pembroke Athleta a third consecutive win as they beat Lija Athletic 1-0. A win which puts Jacques Scerri’s side back in second place.

BOV-First-DivisionVittoriosa Stars scored two late goals to turn defeat into victory as they beat Msida St. Joseph in a match from the BOV First Division on Saturday.

Michael Camilleri put the Stars ahead on the 4th minute but a brace by Helder Souza on the 5th and 45th turned the score in favour of Msida. However substitutes Henrique Eder Guedes and Gianluca Calabretta hit twice on the 85th and 87th respectively to hand Arturo di Napoli’s side a second consecutive win.

In another match, Gzira United moved back in second place thanks to a 3-1 win over Melita.

BOV-First-DivisionAfter beating Rabat Ajax 5-1 in their last outing, Zurrieq registered a second consecutive win as they beat Gudja United 1-0 in a clash from the BOV First Division.

For Gudja, who were leading the table a few weeks ago, this was the third consecutive defeat.

BOV-First-DivisionGudja United suffered another setback in the battle for promotion from the BOV First Division as they conceded a second consecutive defeat, losing 0-2 to Vittoriosa Stars. A defeat which leaves Gudja in sixth place, two points behind Gzira, Fgura and Melita, three behind Pembroke and six behind leaders St. Andrews.

Felipe Canavan converted a penalty after just four minutes to put Vittoriosa ahead and Lamine Ndiaye doubled the score on the 56th.

Gzira United lost 1-2 to St. George’s. A penalty by Larson Mallia on the 56th paved the way for St. George’s who doubled the score six minutes later through Emerson Amaira. Jeremiah Ani reduced the gap for the Maroons on the 65th.

BOV-First-DivisionSt. Andrews regained sole leadership in the BOV First Division as they beat Lija Athletic 4-1 in one of two matches in programme on Saturday.

Player-coach Brian Said put St. Andrews ahead on 28 minutes and just before half-time, Joseph Farrugia converted a penalty to double the score. Erjon Beu pulled one back on 68 minuets but nine minutes later, Michael Johnson made it 3-1 with Mark Scicluna sealing the issue with a fourth goal four minutes from time.

Meanwhile Fgura United claimed another three points as a goal eleven minutes from time by Ryan Previ enabled them to beat Birzebbuga St. Peter’s 1-0.
