BOV Division 1: Zebbug, Zejtun return to winning ways

zebbug-msida131110Zebbug Rangers returned to winning ways as they beat Msida St. Joseph 2-0. The Rangers therefore join St. Andrews in fourth place, two points behind second-placed Melita and six behind leaders Pietà.

Omar Rababah put them ahead on 66 minutes and two minutes later, John Nwoba doubled the score.

In another match, Zejtun Corinthians defeated Zurrieq 2-1.

BOV Division 1: Hotspurs keep marching on

bov-first-division-2013-2014One week after defeating St. Andrews, Pietà Hotspurs maintained their unbeaten record in the BOV First Division with a 2-1 win over another challenger for promotion, Melita. A win which puts Pietà four points clear.

Matthew Borg put the Hotspurs ahead and Raphael Alain Kooh Sohna doubled the score. Jose Jairo Cueto Rodriguez reduced the gap for the Amateurs.

In another match, Gudja United defeated St. George’s 3-2.

BOV Division 1: Lija Athletic return to winning ways

bov-first-division-2013-2014Lija Athletic returned to winnning ways in the BOV First Division as they came from behind to beat Gzira United in one of the two matches in programme at the Victor Tedesco Stadium on Friday.

Simon Shead put the Maroons ahead on 25 minutes but Kiril Aleksandrov levelled matters just before half-time and Ige Adeshina notched the winner three minutes in the second half.

In another match, Hamrun Spartans collected another point in a 1-1 draw with Birzebbuga St. Peter’s.

BOV Division 1: Pietà Hotspurs take sole leadership

bov-first-division-2013-2014Pietà Hotspurs took sole leadership in the BOV First Division after defeating St. Andrews 4-3 in a top-of-the-table clash at the Centenary Stadium on Sunday. Pietà now lead the way with fourteen points, followed by Melita on 13 and St. Andrews on 11.

Orosco Anonam put the Hotspurs ahead on the 12th and Raphael Alain Kooh Sohna doubled the score a minute later. The Hotspurs had a player sent off and Trayo Grozev pulled one back on 51 minutes but Anonam scored again on 68 minutes to make it 3-1. Grozev scored a second goal for the Saints on 72 minutes, Ricardo Costa made it 4-2 on 74 minutes and Emiliano Lattes reduced the arrears once again on 76 minutes.

Meanwhile Hamrun Spartans registered their first win as they beat Zurrieq 3-1 in another match.

BOV Division 1: Melita beat Lija Athletic to take top spot

bov-first-division-2013-2014Melita moved on top the BOV First Division table thanks to a 2-1 win over Lija Athletic at the Luxol Stadium. A win which puts Jacques Scerri’s side temporarily two points ahead of Pietà Hotspurs and St. Andrews before the latter two teams cross swords in another important clash on Sunday.

For Lija, this was the third defeat in four matches.

Meanwhile Birzebbuga St. Peter’s join Lija in fourth place thanks to a 1-0 win over Msida St. Joseph.
