The draws for the BOV First Division, BOV Second Division and BOV Third Division leagues 2014/15 were held on Saturday at the Grand Hotel Excelsior by MFA Chief Executive Officer Bjorn Vassallo and Bank of Valletta Chief Officer Michael Galea.
The BOV First Division will kick-off on September 12 and will come to an end on April 26. Each of the fourteen clubs will be playing 26 matches for a total of 182 matches. Two teams will be promoted to the BOV Premier League while the third-placed team will be taking part in a Promotion Play-Off against the team placing tenth in the BOV Premier League. Three teams will be relegated to the BOV Second Division.
On match-day 1, Vittoriosa Stars and Rabat Ajax who were relegated from the Premier League last season take on Gzira United and newly-promoted Mqabba. The other two newly-promoted sides Pembroke Athleta and Fgura United face neighbours Melita and St. Andrews respectively. The other matches are Gudja United vs Birzebbuga St. Peter’s, St. George’s vs Msida St. Joseph and Zurrieq vs Lija Athletic.
