Bkara-Premier-Champions2013Birkirkara were declared BOV Premier League Champions 2012/13 after they came back from one goal down to beat Hibernians 3-1 in the Championship Decider after both had ended their commitments on level points.

Hibernians showed greater determination during the first half, taking a deserved lead but after the break, it was different story as the Stripes were a transformed side to score the goals which handed them the fourth title in the history of the club.

Hibernians beat Valletta to force decider

BOV-Premier-LeagueA decider to determine the champions of the BOV Premier League is necessary as Hibernians took the three points they needed to end their commitments on level points with Birkirkara as they defeated rivals Valletta 2-1.

The Paolites showed greater determination, taking an early lead and although Valletta equalised, Hibs regained the lead early in the second half to claim victory.

The championship decider will be played on Saturday, kick-off at 17:00.

Narrow win gives Stripes sole leadership ahead of Sunday’s final match

bkara-tarxien130504JBA goal by Harun Shola Shodiya late in the game enabled Birkirkara to collect the three points in a narrow win over ten-man Tarxien Rainbows.

The Stripes now lie three points ahead of Hibernians with the Paolites playing their final game against Valletta on Sunday. Should they beat the Citizens, Hibs would force a championship decider which would be played next Saturday. Otherwise Birkirkara would be declared champions.

Melita ended their BOV Premier League commitments with a fine 5-3 win over Hamrun Spartans in a clash between the two teams who were relegated to Division 1.

Floriana, Sliema end their commitments with a win

qormi-floriana130503JBFloriana made sure of finishing the Relegation Pool on top after defeating Qormi 1-0 thanks to a goal by Carl Tremarco towards the end of the first half.

For the Greens, this was the eighth consecutive win and the ninth win in the ten Relegation Pool matches.

Meanwhile Sliema Wanderers came back from one goal down to beat Mosta 4-1 to join Valletta in third place.

Armario Negrin scores four as Rabat hit five past Balzan

rabat-balzan130502JBSpanish striker Jose Luis Armario Negrin scored four as Rabat Ajax ended the season in style with a 5-0 win over Balzan.

The game had no particular interest for the two teams after the Magpies had secured their Premier League status last week but Jose Luis Armario Negrin was chasing the top spot in the list of scorers. With these four goals, he now leads the list with 22 goals, two ahead of Daniel Mariano Bueno and four ahead of Michael Mifsud.
