Valletta celebrate despite defeat to Hibernians

Hibernians registered a 2-1 win over Valletta on the day the Citizens celebrate the 21st championship in the history of the club.

The Paolites managed to take an early lead but the Citizens were quick to restore equilibrium. However after missing a penalty, Hibernians still managed to score a late goal to take home the three points.

Obiefule notches hat-trick as Mosta secure Premier League status

Mosta secured their Premier League status for the first time in the history of the club as they defeated a depleted Qormi side 4-1.

The hero for the Blues was once again Nigerian striker Obinna Obiefule who notched a hat-trick to establish a new Premier League record of 34 goals. Sliema Wanderers coach Danilo Doncic held the previous record of 32 goals.

Mqabba defeated Hamrun Spartans 4-1 but this win was not enough to avoid relegation.

Birkirkara finished third as they beat Balzan Youths while Floriana lost to Sliema Wanderers in two matches from the Championship Pool.

Marsaxlokk bid farewell to Premier League with fine win

Marsaxlokk brought their Premier League commitments to an end with a fine 4-2 win over Tarxien Rainbows.

The Southseasiders scored no less than four goals in the first twenty-five minutes and continued to hold the initiative for the rest of the first half. After the break, the Rainbows improved, scoring twice to reduce the gap.

Depleted Stripes move third — Hibernians return to winning ways

Despite lacking no less than five suspended players, Birkirkara were strong enough to beat Sliema Wanderers 4-1 to move third in the BOV Premier League table.

The Stripes are now third on 35 points, two ahead of Floriana.

Meanwhile Hibernians scored three in the second half as they returned to winning ways, beating Balzan Youths 3-0.

Tarxien secure Premier League status

Adrian Carabott scored two late goals as Tarxien Rainbows defeated Hamrun Spartans 3-0 to make sure of playing in the Premier League next season.

With Tarxien out of the battle against relegation, the final matches for Mosta and Mqabba next week will decide which team will be playing in Division 1 next season.

Meanwhile champions Valletta extended their positive run to twenty-six matches as they beat eternal rivals Floriana 1-0 thanks to a goal by Edmond Agius late in the first half.
