0  Stripes drop important points in battle for second place

Birkirkara dropped two important points in the battle for the runner-up position behind champions Valletta after they were held in a 1-1 draw by Floriana.

The Stripes move two points ahead of Marsaxlokk and three ahead of Sliema Wanderers but both Marsaxlokk and Sliema have a game in hand.

Three minutes in stoppage time, Birkirkara were reduced to ten men after Thomas Paris received a second yellow card but the match was not over yet as a minute later, Floriana equalised with Ryan Darmanin deflecting the ball past Bernard Paris off a Christian Cassar freekick from the left.

Amed Davy Sylla was voted BOV Player of the Match.
