0  Qala SJ win BOV Super Cup

Qala St. Joseph claimed a second major honour in just three days after winning the BOV Super Cup thanks to a 3-0 win over champions Nadur Youngsters.

The Saints scored the three goals in the final 27 minutes. Manwel Cordina put them ahead and a brace by Dione Lautier on 83 and 88 minutes gave them victory.

This game brought to an end the football season in Gozo. Nadur Youngsters won the Onvol First Division championship and the Independence Cup. Victoria Hotspurs won the Tazza Jum il-Helsien while Qala won the GFA Cup and the Super Cup.

In fact last Tuesday, Qala St. Joseph won the GFA Cup for the first time after beating Ghajnsielem 5-4 on penalties following a 3-3 draw after extra-time.

Ghajnsielem took the lead on 38 minutes thanks to a penalty by Dominic Okanu. The Blacks seemed heading towards victory but a goal by Andreas Fotso on the 90th forced extra-time. Six minutes in the first half of extra-time, Okanu put Ghajnsielem 2-1 ahead but two minutes from the final whistle, Glenn Cefai levelled matters for Qala. Penalties therefore had to decide the issue with Qala claiming victory.
