Dingli Swallows reached the second round of the U*BET FA Trophy after inflicting a most humiliating 0-7 defeat on Marsa.

Dingli were clearly a better side right from the start, going close on the 6th minutes with a good move on the left by Jeremy Agius who served Christian Muscat but his conclusion was blocked by a defender. The ball reached Roderick Spiteri whose shot ended wide following a slight deflection.

On 11 minutes, Uchenna Anywanna had a good shot from the edge of the area when served by Etienne Farrugia. Two minutes later, Anywanna served Jeremy Agius on the right but the latter hit wide. On 18 minutes, Marsa goalie Roderick Spiteri neutralised a shot by Uchenna Anywanna, served from the left by Jeremy Agius.

The Swallows took the lead on 25 minutes when Roderick Spiteri released Uchenna Anywanna inside the area and the latter slotted the ball past Marsa goalkeeper Roderick Spiteri.

Marsa replied with an angled shot by Johann Camilleri on the half-hour which was turned into a corner by goalkeeper Jeffrey Farrugia. From the resulting corner by Clayton Guzman, the ball reached Kevin Cassar who hit the bar.

Dingli went close once again on 32 minutes with a good move by Agius on the right. The former Valletta midfielder served Anywanna who controlled before hitting just wide. A minute later, Christian Muscat had a good shot from outside the area blocked by Darren Vella. Off the rebound, the same player's effort ended wide.

The Swallows doubled the score on 39 minutes when Uchenna Anywanna, served by Agius, tried his luck with a fine shot which hit the upright. The ball bounced onto the goalkeeper, ending at the back of the net.

Dingli continued to hold the initiative after the break, going close on 48 minutes with Jeremy Agius serving Uchenna Anywanna inside the area but the latter's diagonal shot ended just wide.

They increased the lead on 53 minutes with a header from the right by Jason Cachia off a Kurt Formosa freekick.

Uchenna Anywanna completed a hat-trick on 74 minutes as he hit home past Spiteri following a fine pass from the left by Darren Roe to make it 4-0.

On 76 minutes, Dingli were awarded a penalty after Uchenna Anywanna was floored inside the area. However from the penalty spot, Christian Muscat hit high.

Two minutes later, the Swallows were awarded another penalty for a foul on Darren Roe inside the area. This time, Uchenna Anywanna made no mistake.

Seven minutes from time, Darren Roe scored Dingli's sixth goal off a pass by Anywanna from the left. On 85 minutes, the Swallows sealed the issue with a seventh goal when Jeremy Agius advanced on the left, hitting low past Spiteri.

Tarxien Rainbows moved on to the next round of the U*BET FA Trophy as they surprised fellow promotion challengers Qormi with four goals in the first half, going on to win with a most comfortable 5-1 score.

After a quiet start, Tarxien took the lead on 22 minutes when off a cross from the left by Simon Muscat, Simon Shead hit low from close range. A minute later, the Rainbows doubled the score when Simon Muscat concluded a solo effort on the left flank, hitting past goalkeeper Joshua Galea.

Qormi replied with a cross from the left by Clyde Camoin from which Lee Grima's header was neutralised by Sean Cini.

However on 32 minutes, Tarxien scored the third goal when off a pass by Simon Shead from the left, Angus Buhagiar missed but Luke Vella Critien slotted the ball past Qormi goalie Joshua Galea.

Four minutes from the end of the first half, the Rainbows scored the fourth goal with Angus Buhagiar concluding a good run on the right flank with a diagonal shot which beat Galea.

After the break, the Rainbows continued where they had left with Essien Mbong hitting the crossbar after just one minute.

Qormi pulled one back on 65 minutes when off a cross by Carmel Formosa from the left, substitute Michael Borg Olivier beat Sean Cini from the right with the ball hitting the bar before ending at the back of the net.

However on 68 minutes, Tarxien restored the four-goal lead with thanks to a goal by Simon Muscat who concluded a good run with a shot which was deflected by the goalkeeper into the net.

With the Rainbows being more relaxed, the Yellow-Blacks created a number of chances in the final fifteen minutes. After going close with an Anatole Debono effort which was turned into a corner by Sean Cini, two minutes from time, a freekick by Joseph Farrugia was saved into a corner by the Tarxien goalkeeper.
