| Senglea Athletic were the third First Division team to reach the second round of the U*BET FA Trophy after eliminating Msida St. Joseph after extra-time in a seven-goal thriller.
Msida went close with an Adrian Farrugia effort from outside the area on the 5th minute but his conclusion was deflected into a corner. Six minutes later, Senglea replied with a shot by Kevin Mifsud which ended just wide. The Saints Msida took the lead on 21 minutes with a direct freekick by Tyrone Farrugia which beat goalkeeper George Attard. Andrew Spiteri, served by Priso, missed a good chance a few minutes later hitting high when served from the right. Senglea Athletic levelled matters on 43 minutes when off a cross by Glenn Bonello from the left, Kenneth Abela headed home in style. Six minutes in the second half, Spiteri served Njongo Priso whose shot ended just wide On the hour, Msida regained the lead when Lawrence Mizzi, off a cross by Andrew Spiteri, anticipated goalkeeper George Attard, placing the ball at the back of the net. But on 68 minutes, Mark Tanti released Kenneth Abela on the right and the latter managed to beat Manuel Bartolo. With the result still 2-2 the game went into extra-time but after just five minutes, Tyrone Farrugia put Msida ahead once again, slotting the ball past Attard from close range following a cross by Andrew Spiteri. However Senglea had other thoughts and on the 10st minute, they levelled matters when Kenneth Abela served Anthony Ewurum from the left and the latter beat Manuel Bartolo from close range. One minute from the end of the first half of extra-time, Senglea notched the winner when off a good choral move, Jason Borg released Chris Cuschieri on the right and the latter served Anthony Ewurum who managed to beat Bartolo from close range. Msida had the opportunity to force the penalty shoot-out on the 120th minute but off a Dino Cachia corner, Gilbert Camilleri hit high from an ideal position inside the area. | |

| BOV Premier League leaders Floriana found no difficulty in beating Mellieha 7-1 to reach the second round of the U*BET FA Trophy.
Floriana took the lead after just three minutes thanks to a Darko Krsteski direct freekick. On the 18th minute, a Christian Cassar freekick was turned into a corner by goalkeeper David Vella. A minute later, the Greens doubled the score when off a Mauro Brincat corner from the left, a header by Darko Krsteski was deflected by Keith Spiteri to end at the back of the net. Off a cross by Bolasie from the left, Manolito Micallef's fine effort went just wide on 24 minutes Six minutes from the end of the first half, Yala Bolasie anticipated goalkeeper David Vella with a cute lob to make it 3-0 and four minutes later, Bolasie managed to beat the Mellieha goalkeeper with a fine scissors-kick, off a cross from the right. Seven minutes in the second half, Mellieha went close with a Gianluca Calabretta header off a corner by Reuben Vella from the left. On 61 minutes, Manolito Micallef made it 5-0 for Floriana when he entered the penalty area from the right. His first shot was blocked, Christian Caruana served Micallef who hit home from close range. Five minutes from time, Floriana scored the sixth goal when David Vella saved partially a Jermain Brincat effort but Christian Caruana took the rebound, placing the ball at the back of the net. In an isolated counter-attack, Wayne Borg St. John effort for Mellieha was tipped into a corner by Floriana goalie Simon Agius. One minute in stoppage time, Yala Bolasie made it 7-0, beating Vella from close range after the latter had managed to block a Christian Caruana effort but a minute later, Mellieha scored a consolation goal through Ibrahim Tarik who beat the Floriana custodian when served on the right. | |
