| Hamrun Spartans were the first team to reach the semi-finals of the competition after defeating First Division side Dingli Swallows 3-1.
Dingli gave a good account of themselves and managed to take the lead on 19th minute when following a good move between Uchenna Anyanwu and Chris Ciappara, the latter served Jeremy Agius whose fine shot from inside the area beat Sullivan. The Spartans levelled matters on the half hour when off a cross from the right by Alfred Effiong, Gaetan Spiteri headed home past goalkeeper Jeffrey Farrugia. Hamrun went close once again on when off a cross by Neville Galea from the left, Diego Cucciardi headed just wide and on the 36th minute, Effiong once again served Gaetan Spiteri from the right. The latter controlled before unleashing a fine rising shot which hit the crossbar. A goal-bound shot by Spiteri was cleared into safety by Jason Cachia five minutes later and then one minute from half-time, off a cross by Gaetan Spiteri, the ball was deflected into the direction of Ryan Fenech who hit wide from in front of the empty net. Eight minutes in the second half, Hamrun made it 2-1 when off a Ryan Fenech freekick from the left, Gaetan Spiteri headed home. Three minutes later, the Spartans could have increased the lead when off a cross by Cucciardi, shots from close range by Effiong and Stephen Meilak were blocked by the Dingli goalkeeper. The Swallows replied with a conclusion by Chris Ciappara which was blocked into a corner by Effiong on 58 minutes. Hamrun kept pushing for more going close on 63 minutes with a header by Cucciardi following a cross by Branislav Timotic from the left. Three minutes later, Effiong took advantage from an erratic clearance and served Gaetan Spiteri but his attempt was saved at point blank by Jeffrey Farrugia. On the other side of the pitch, Uchenna Anyanwu had a powerful shot from the edge of the area ending wide. The Spartans sealed the issue with another goal three minutes in stoppage time thanks to Gaetan Spiteri who therefore completed a hat-trick with another header, this time off a cross by Ryan Fenech.

| Holders Hibernians are out of the U*BET FA Trophy after losing 1-2 to BOV Premier League leaders Valletta. The Citizens therefore proceed to the semi-finals.
The Paolites created the first goal-scoring opportunity on the 12th minute. Andrew Cohen shot blocked by Andrew Hogg. Terence Scerri took the rebound, advanced into the area and hit low past the Valletta custodian but Kenneth Scicluna cleared his goal-bound shot off the goal-line. Three minutes later, Mario Muscat rushed out of the area to clear the ball into safety before Gilbert Agius could conclude. A Clayton Failla freekick from the left on 18 minutes for Hibernians was deflected into a corner. Seven minutes later, Hogg performed a good save on an overhead kick by Andrew Cohen. A freekick by Cohen from the left was then deflected into a corer by David Camilleri on the half-hour. Valletta replied with a Frank Temile effort which was however blocked into a corner by Jonathan Caruana five minutes from the end of the first half. Against the run of play, Valletta took the lead in stoppage time. Stefan Giglio served Frank Temile who intelligently rounded Timmy Fleri Soler and Jonathan Caruana before beating Mario Muscat from close range. After the break, the Citizens were a better side and could have gone two goals ahead on 65 minutes when off a perfect assist by Frank Temile for Gilbert Agius, the latter passed the ball to Josef Mifsud who incredibly failed to connect. Valletta paid dearly for this missed opportunity as two minutes later, Hibernians levelled matters when off a cross by Adrian Pulis, Terence Scerri rose high to head past goalkeeper Andrew Hogg. Another fine pass by Gilbert Agius found Frank Temile in an ideal position on 73 minutes but the Nigerian striker's conclusion ended just wide. Mario Muscat then managed to block a shot from inside the area by Sebastian Monesterolo on 84 minutes when served by Temile from the right. Valletta regained the lead three minutes from time when Heiner Backhaus served Sebastian Monesterolo on the left and the latter's attempt found Gilbert Agius in an excellent position all alone in front of Mario Muscat and the City captain placed the ball at the back of the net.
