Malta climbs six places in FIFA Ranking

Following the 2-0 win over Georgia, Malta climbed six places in the FIFA/Coca-Cola World Ranking. Malta is now placed 140th.
Among the other European countries, Malta is still 49th. Ahead of Malta are Georgia (112, down 9), Estonia (114, down 2), Luxembourg (116, up 3), Armenia (125, down 2), Kazakhstan (136, down 6) and Azerbaijan (139, down 2). On the other hand, trailing Malta are Liechtenstein (151, down 1), Faroe Islands (163), Andorra (195) and San Marino (203).
Malta takes on Cape Verde on Friday in a friendly match before hosting Sweden in a World Cup qualifier on Wednesday. In October, Malta meets Angola in a friendly match before another World Cup qualifier against Portugal. Both matches will be played in Portugal.
