Former MFA General Secretary passes away aged 69

Former MFA General Secretary Joe A. Sacco passed away suddenly on Wednesday morning at the age of 69 years.
He started his career as a player, playing with the youth team of Gudja United in 1958 when he was an 18-year old, he made his debut for the senior team a year later in Division 3.
Sacco then served as a member of the Gudja United committee between 1962 and 1964 and between 1968 and 1974. He was then elected secretary of the club, representing them as MFA Council Member.
In 1982, he was appointed General Secretary of the Malta Football Association, serving for eighteen years in all. He served as a member of the UEFA Fair Play Committee and a member of the UEFA Fair Play and Ethics Committee. Following his resignation in 2000, he was appointed Honorary Member of the MFA.
Mass praesente cadavere will be said at Gudja Parish Church tomorrow Thursday, 10th September, 2009, at 8.30am.
