New season for Lija Iklin Nursery

Season 2009/10 for the Lija/Iklin Youth Football Nursery got under way on Thursday with the pre-season Parents Meeting that was very well-attended with the presence of about 150 parents of children in the age bracket 6 to 13.
The members of the nursery will be covered by a new clause to be included in the Sports Plan Policy of the nursery aptly called ‘member to member’ which guarantees better protection in case of an accident involving a player with another player.
The football pitch where the training sessions are held will undergo a complete refurbishment and will have a new synthetic surface. The present dressing rooms will be replaced by modern amenities in line with the requirements of a modern club and nursery. The nursery has already prepared contingency plans for the period during which the necessary work on the ground will be underway.
For the first time a Parents Day will be held during mid-season and progress reports will be available on a monthly basis.
Football for girls is being given the utmost attention and the girls will also be divided in categories according to their ages.
As from this season, kits will be provided by Eurosport.
The first day of training was Saturday when the members of the nursery aged 6 to 13 met in front of the Lija Parish Church to attend Mass and then moved to the football ground accompanied by their coaches.
Meanwhile the other senior categories have already played their first league matches with mixed fortunes. The Under-15 side, newly-promoted to Section B, lost their first game while the Under-17 side registered a most comfortable win in Section C.
