In the run up to the new season Zebbug Rangers Football Club signed new players, engaged a new coach, and continued upgrading its facilities, as it sets out on a mission to win the promotion to the First Division.
The Second Division side presented their 10 new signings for the 2009/2010 season at the Coldwell Banker Malta offices, Attard, on Tuesday 22 September. Zebbug Rangers also announced that Coldwell Banker Malta, the renowned international real estate agency, is the club’s new official sponsor.
The team’s new players for this season include Marlon Vella, James Galea, George Frendo, Gilbert Scerri, Mark Deguara, Stephen Calleja, Anthony Lagana, Silvan Privitelli, Joseph Saliba and Joseph Mercieca.
Zebbug Rangers’ new coach Joe Gerada thanked the committee for choosing him to lead the squad and explained that all the players have been working hard to get ready for the upcoming season. With the newly signed players, the club achieved a good blend of youth and experience. Gerada expressed his satisfaction at the way the players are working together, affirming that they will all be doing their utmost to win the promotion.
This year the club will also continue working on the project to upgrade its football ground and facilities. With the help of the Malta Football Association, the Zebbug Rangers ground will soon be fitted with artificial turf, and the nearby club facilities are being renovated. President Joseph Pace thanked the MFA, the committee members, and the members of the club’s youth nursery, who are all helping out to complete this project. He explained that the new facilities will enable the club’s nursery to provide a better service to youths and children. The President also launched the club’s new website www.zebbugrangersfc.com
At the end of the event, Kris Grima, Coldwell Banker Malta manager, presented the club with the new Zebbug Rangers kit bearing the new sponsor’s logo. Coldwell Banker Malta is a member of the Famalco Group. This is not the first football club that the group’s companies will be sponsoring, explained David Vella, the group’s public relations executive. “We have always been committed to supporting local clubs because we firmly believe that such financial contributions are essential for the development of local sports.”
Pace thanked Coldwell Banker Malta for their continued support. He also thanked other companies who are supporting the club – The Convenience Shop, Ultimate, Total Mobile, Three Matics, Noel Auto Dealers, and Quality Imp.
