UEFA Under-19, Under-17 qualifying draws

The draws for the UEFA European Under-19 Championship and the UEFA European Under-17 Championship 2010/11 qualifying rounds were held in Nyon, Switzerland on Monday. 
In the UEFA European Under-19 Championship, Malta was drawn in Group 9 together with Netherlands, Slovakia and Slovenia.
The mini-tournament will be held in Slovenia. Malta will be playing its games as follows: vs Netherlands on October 7, vs Slovakia on October 9 and vs Slovenia on October 12.
With hosts Romania qualifying automatically for the finals in summer 2011, the 52 teams were split into 13 groups of four, to be played in autumn 2010 as one-venue mini-tournaments, with dates and venues to be confirmed. The top two in each qualifying round section, plus the two third-placed sides with the best record against the top two in their group, will progress to the Elite round, which will be played in the spring of 2011.
On the other hand, in the UEFA European Under-17 Championship, Malta was drawn in Group 4 together with Norway, the Republic of Ireland and Albania. 
Malta will be hosting the mini-tournament and will play its games as follows: vs Norway on September 25, vs Ireland on September 27 and Albania on September 30.
Fifty-two sides are competing for seven slots alongside hosts Serbia in next season’s final tournament, and have been split into 13 groups of four for the first stage, played next autumn with exact dates and venues to be confirmed. The top two from each section will progress to the Elite round along with the two third-placed sides with the best record against the leading pair in their section.
Meanwhile the draw for the Elite round of the UEFA European Under-17 Championship 2009/10 will be held on Tuesday at 09:30 in Nyon.
Malta qualified as one of the best third-placed teams following a win over the Netherlands, a draw against Andorra and a defeat to Northern Ireland.
