Qormi, Tarxien hope to regain winning touch

Qormi and Tarxien Rainbows will both be all out to return to winning ways after failing to collect any points in their first two Championship Pool matches as they face eachother on Friday at the Victor Tedesco Stadium, kick-off at 19:30.

For both Qormi and Tarxien, securing a top-six finish was one of the main objectives for the season but now that they managed to achieve this target but now they aim at ending their negative run.

In fact, Qormi lost their last three matches, suffering two 0-2 defeats to Birkirkara and a 0-1 defeat to Hibernians. Defeats which saw the Yellows lose ground to leaders Valletta and Birkirkara and now share the third place with Sliema Wanderers, eight points behind the leading duo.

Like Qormi, Tarxien have gone three matches without a win following a 2-2 draw with Hamrun Spartans in the last game from the first phase and a 6-2 defeat to Valletta and a 0-2 loss to Sliema. The Rainbows are currently sixth on 13 points and with a win over Qormi, they would move to just one point behind neighbours Hibernians, although the Paolites would have a game in hand.

No players are ruled out through suspension but Denni Rocha Dos Santos returns for Tarxien after serving a one-match ban.

In the first round, Qormi beat Tarxien 2-1 but in the second, Noel Coleiro’s side registered a 2-0 win.
