Six Premier League players suspended

Six Premier League players were handed a one-match ban following the weekend’s matches while Vittoriosa Stars coach Winston Muscat was suspended for ten matches by the MFA Disciplinary Commissioner.

Hibernians were hit worse as they had Miguel Lopes De Pina, Andrew Cohen and Adrian Pulis suspended. Valletta’s Njongo Priso and Steve Borg together with Hamrun’s Manolito Micallef were the other players to be banned.

The Hibs trio are ruled out of the game against Birkirkara on Saturday while Priso and Borg will be missing the game against Sliema, also on Saturday. Mano Micallef will be missing the Relegation Pool clash against Dingli on Sunday.

In Division 1, Vittoriosa Stars had four players suspended for one game, namely Clayton Micallef, Jonathan Xerri, Beppe Muscat and Pierre Aquilina while coach Winston Muscat was banned for ten matches. On the other hand, St. George’s had three players banned for one game – Nathan Caruana, Chris Cioffi and Anthony Ewurum Chimezie.

Mauro Bonnici (Mqabba) and Sheldon Grech (Pietà) were handed a two-match ban while Leighton Grech (Marsaxlokk), Mark Brincat (Mosta) and Ryan Sell (San Gwann) were suspended for one game.

Erin Azzopardi (Senglea) was banned for two matches in Division 2 while Noel Tabone (Birzebbuga),
Jonathan Galea and Ryan Debattista (Gharghur), Miguel Mifsud (Gzira) and Bjorn Dalli (Senglea) were all suspended for one game.

Antoine Sapiano (Sta. Lucia) was suspended for one game in Division 3.

In the Youth League, Jean Claude Cachia (Attard) and Gordon Agius (Siggiewi) were suspended for two matches while Karl Asciak (Dingli), Hmoud Hussam Rakban (Mtarfa), Steven Pisani (San Gwann), Daniel Grima (Siggiewi) were handed a one-match ban.
