Stripes target fourth successive win

Leaders Birkirkara will be hoping to move another important step towards securing the third Premier League title in the history of the club by beating Hibernians on Sunday.

Lying one point ahead of Valletta but with a game in hand, the Stripes could move back four points ahead of the Citizens with two games to go.

Birkirkara won eight of the last nine matches, dropping the only points in a 3-3 draw with Tarxien Rainbows. In case of a win over the Paolites, in the next game against the Rainbows, Birkirkara would be crowned champions with another win.

Hibernians were a disappointing lot in recent outings, suffering six consecutive defeats and are anchored at the bottom of the Championship Pool with 17 points.

However they managed to hold Birkirkara in two 2-2 draws this season in the first phase. The third round clash ended in a 2-1 win for the Stripes.
