The Blades have agreed terms for the signing of the 30-year-old Maltese international whose contract with Barnsley expires this summer. He will complete his move to Bramall Lane by signing his contract and becoming a Blade on 1 July 2010.
“From being a young boy I have always had the dream to wear this famous shirt and finally it is reality. I am delighted to be at a club with such a great history.”
“I want to help this club in every way I can and repay the trust the club and the manager has put in me. It is an honour to be a Sheffield United player.”
“What I do on the pitch is down to me and I have always believed that talk is cheap. I will be striving to deliver my best for the Blades and this is the place to be at this stage in my footballing career.”
“I have played at Bramall Lane with Barnsley and always enjoyed the occasion. This is a Premiership club and one that deserves to be in the Premiership. I am so excited about this opportunity and I just can’t wait to get started.
“I turned down seven clubs from the Championship and some of them were top clubs so this move isn’t about finances. I also received lucrative offers from abroad so if I was going for the money then I would have gone to Qatar or Turkey.”
