Euro Cup: Valletta take on Birkirkara in second game

U*BET FA Trophy winners Valletta will be facing BOV Premier League champions Birkirkara in the second game of the Euro Cup on Wednesday at the Centenary Stadium, kick-off at 18:15. In the first game on Monday, Birkirkara lost 1-3 to Sliema Wanderers.

The Stripes will therefore aim at defeating the Citizens by at least a three goal difference in a bid to maintain alive hopes of winning this first honour of the season. However they will be unable to field their best formation due to the absence of Shaun Bajada who is suspended after being sent off in the game against the Wanderers. Angus Buhagiar and Joseph Zerafa will be back after serving a one-match ban.

For Valletta, this will be the first outing ahead of their UEFA Europa League commitments. They should have Brazilian defender Ramon Dos Santos making his debut after joining the club from Qormi.

Another new face in the Valletta squad – now under the guidance of coach Jesmond Zerafa – should be Brazilian forward Hercules Cardoso Ottoni.

The third and final match between Sliema Wanderers and Valletta will be played on Friday.

Birkirkara and Sliema Wanderers will be travelling for their UEFA commitments early next week. Birkirkara will be in action in the UEFA Champions League first qualifying round against FC Santa Coloma at Estadi Comunal – Andorra La Vella while on Thursday, Sliema will be in action in Croatia as they face HNK Šibenik in the first qualifying round of the UEFA Europa League.
