St. Venera Lightnings and Mgarr United secured a place in the quarter-finals of the quick-Keno Second and Third Division Knock-Out after both registered wins on Tuesday to win their respective groups.
In Group 7, Third Division side Sta. Venera Lightnings defeated Senglea Athletic from the Second Division 2-1. A win which puts Marco Buttigieg’s side on top on seven points, one ahead of Senglea. Swieqi place third on two points following a draw with Gharghur.
Mgarr United won Group 3 thanks to a 3-1 win over San Gwann. Therefore the team led by Charles Agius claimed maximum points from the three matches. In another match, Fgura and Marsa shared the spoils in a draw.
Seven of the eight quarter-finalists are now known: Birzebbuga St. Peter’s, Rabat Ajax, Zejtun Corinthians, Mgarr United and Naxxar Lions from Division 2, Mtarfa and Sta. Venera Lightnings from Division 3. The last matches from Group 8 will be played on Thursday.
