Second defeat for futsal national team against Finland

Malta lost 0-10 to Finland in the second of two friendly matches which were held at the Cottonera Sports Complex. At the end of the first half, Finland were already leading 5-0.

Risto Salmi put Finland ahead on the 7th minute and Panu Autio doubled the score two minutes later. Joonas Laurikainen and a brace by Salmi between the 15th and 17th increased the lead to 5-0.

On 26 minutes, Teemu Terho scored the sixth goal, Autio added another on 28 minutes while Laurikainen and Jukka Kyotola scored the eighth and ninth on 30 and 35 minutes respectively. Terho sealed the issue on the 38th.

Malta lined-up as follows: Matthew Mifsud, John Cutajar, Jonathan Magri Overend, Carlo Scicluna, Xavier Saliba, Nicola Del Re, Alan Galea, Melvin Borg, Clint Cope, Christopher Brincat, Jeanbert Gatt, Bjorn Vassallo, Robert Magro, David Smith.

On Thursday, Finland registered a 7-0 win.

Next month, the national team will be travelling to Libya where Malta takes on Bosnia-Herzegovina, Cyprus and Tunisia in the first edition of the Mediterranean Futsal Cup.
