Valletta, Floriana seek third win

Valletta and Floriana will be aiming for a third win in the BOV Premier League as they take on Tarxien Rainbows and Vittoriosa Stars on Saturday.

In the first match, Floriana will be all out to register a second successive win as they face Vittoriosa Stars – the only team without any points after playing four matches, losing to Valletta, Qormi, Tarxien and Sliema. The last two games were two narrow 0-1 defeats.

Floriana, on the other hand, won two and lost two. They are coming from a 2-1 win over Hamrun Spartans. A game in which they failed to impress against a Hamrun side reduced to nine men.

The Stars hope to welcome back midfielder Edison Luis Dos Santos who missed the last game against Sliema. Kiril Dzhorov is in doubt for the Greens after leaving the pitch injured last Saturday.

Meanwhile in the second game, leaders Valletta will be hoping to maintain their positive run by claiming the three points from the game against Tarxien Rainbows.

The Citizens, together with Marsaxlokk, are still unbeaten. However they dropped points in two 2-2 draws – against Hibernians and last week against Birkirkara. They are therefore eager to return to winning ways in order to stay top.

The Rainbows, on the other hand, are second from bottom after collecting four points from the first four matches – a win over Vittoriosa, a draw with Marsaxlokk and defeats to Hamrun and Qormi.

Omonigho Temile is in doubt for Valletta but Gilbert Agius could be back after missing the last two games.
