BOV Premier League back this weekend

The BOV Premier League will be back on Saturday following a one-week break due to the first round of the U*BET FA Trophy and Malta’s EURO 2012 qualifier against Croatia. Two matches which will be played at the Hibernians Stadium.

In the first match, Sliema Wanderers take on Floriana, hoping to end the recent disappointing run which saw them collect just one point from their last three matches. In fact, following a goalless draw with Qormi, they lost 1-2 to Tarxien Rainbows and 0-4 to Valletta. The Wanderers are in fact third from bottom on eight points.

The Greens lost to Tarxien in their last league outing and now hope to bounce back with a win which would put them in second place, four points behind leaders Valletta. Last week, they made it to the second round of the FA Trophy after defeating Lija Athletic 3-0.

Brazilian striker Jackson Lima is ruled out for Sliema as he serves a one-match ban.

The second match in programme is the derby Tarxien Rainbows vs Hibernians.

The Rainbows’ morale is high following two fine wins over Sliema and Floriana in their last two league games and a 3-1 win over Balzan Youths in the FA Trophy. They currently share the third place with Floriana and Hamrun Spartans.

Hibernians are currently second from bottom, having gone six matches without a win. They are therefore desperate for a win in order to climb out of the danger zone. Last week, they eliminated First Division side Pietà from the FA Trophy, beating them 4-0.

For Tarxien, Brazilian defender Everton will be back after missing the last two league games but Daniel Mariano Bueno is ruled out injured.
