The Youth Football Association launched the Gatorade Fun Football Festivals for the Under-13 and Under-11 sections for this season, during a meeting at the Centenary Hall in Ta’ Qali, in the presence of the head coaches and delegates from all participating nurseries.

The Secretary General of the association, Joe Micallef, started the meeting by going thru the festivals’ regulations and highlighted to both the local nurseries and parent clubs to take the game seriously and urged the administrators to respect the rules, regulations and the spirit of the game. Afterwards, Alfred Caciattolo and Francis Zammit explained in detail the fixtures and set up of the festivals.

The Youth FA President, Fr. Hilary Tagliaferro, recalled the coaches’ responsibilities towards their nurseries and children entrusted to them. He continued by reiterating that children are born with natural talent and the role of football coaches to help them improve themselves. Fr. Hilary finished his intervention by inviting coaches to continue studying and continue seeking new ways to make their training sessions more interesting.

The CEO of the Malta Football Association, Bjorn Vassallo, stressed that the Malta Football Association has the grassroots of football at heart. He reiterated that the dream of the President, Norman Darmanin Demajo, that the Youth FA is to be physically closer to the MFA in Ta ‘Qali, will soon become reality. Bjorn Vassallo added that this will be just the beginning of long-term vision, because the MFA will also give the Centenary Stadium to be managed and used exclusively by the Youth FA as from the forthcoming season, while the MFA will make huge investments in the sector of youth football.

The Secretary General of the Youth FA closed the meeting by thanking Farsons, which through Gatorade is sponsoring these festivals for 14th consecutive season.
