Former national team player passes away

Former national team player Charles Muscat, known as “il-Ba?ri”, passed away on his 48th birthday.

Muscat started his career with Bi?ebbu?a St Peter’s FC but played top division football with St. Patrick and Zurrieq. While playing for Zurrieq, he won the Footballer of the Year award in 1983/84 and the FA Trophy the following season. During the same time, he made it to the national team.

The funeral will be held on Saturday at 08:30 at St. Peter’s Parish Church, Bir?ebbu?a.

In a statement, Bir?ebbu?a St Peter’s FC expressed their condolences to his family, relatives and friends and in particular his wife Marlene and his sons Keith and Alex who played for the club and the Birzebbuga Windmill nursery.
